1. Who we are
opencomm is a professional community operated by Openhearted Inc. (“we”, “us”, or “Openhearted”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you visit our website, create an account, complete our onboarding, or participate in the opencomm community (“Service”).

2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Profile information. Information you choose to share during onboarding, such as your current role, professional background, skills, years of experience, LinkedIn profile, industry, availability, career goals, and what you hope to get out of the community.
- AI-generated content. A short professional summary generated from the profile information you provide, to help other members understand your background.
- Usage data. Basic technical information such as browser type, device, and pages visited, used to keep the Service secure and improve it.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your opencomm account and member profile.
- Generate your AI-assisted profile summary.
- Invite you to and administer the opencomm community on Slack.
- Help members connect and collaborate with each other.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including welcome and transactional emails.
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Service and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your profile content to train third-party AI models.
4. AI processing
During onboarding, the information you provide is processed by an automated AI service to generate a short summary of your professional profile. This summary is reviewed as part of the Service and stored alongside your profile. You can request correction or deletion of your AI summary at any time by contacting us.
5. How we share information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. With trusted vendors that help us run the Service, such as our hosting, database, authentication, AI, and Slack providers, each bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Community visibility. Your name, profile details, and AI summary may be visible to other opencomm members so they can connect and collaborate with you.
- Legal reasons. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Openhearted, our members, or others.
6. Data retention and security
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and strict database access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights by emailing hello@opencomm.co. You may also delete your account or update your profile at any time, and you can leave the Slack community at any time. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. International transfers
Our Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
9. Children
opencomm is intended for professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years of age. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify members by email or through the Service and update the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
